Manon Dangelser
My Story
Hello all,
My name is Manon, I am French and live in London since almost 2 years. This year 2018 I want to create changes in my life, for myself and others. I have suffered from anxiety and panic attacks after an hospitalisation in 2015. It took a long time to heal, and I am still in the process, but after reading several personal development books, seeking help among others and taking time to reflect about my life, I have managed to get back on tracks. Though my anxiety is still there at times, moving forward and achieving my goals make me more confident and determined so I can enjoy life.
I have always loved to travel and discover new cultures. However as I grew older, different fears started to accompany me, and prevented me from trying all the experiences I wanted, such as the fear of flying. But as a famous author would say, every human on this planet experiences fear, and the only difference between us is how one relates to it. The secret is to "Feel the fear and do it anyway"...
Recently I have been to Kenya. I was terrorised to fly, couldn't sleep but guess what? I am still there! Talking to locals and wandering in the city of Mombasa awoke all my senses and made me feel so alive again. Witnessing poverty at every corner was also striking in this country, and gave me the determination to help, to help people and preserve nature, to help manage resources, to bring skills and techniques to villages so they can access sanitation, safe housing, but also education, so they can thrive better as a community. I came back with this willingness to do something for the world, for the people who have less opportunities than me.
I currently work as a sustainability advisor in London, so in a field in which I can have a positive impact on the planet. But my impact is not enough. A year ago I came across the association SEED Madagascar that promotes sustainable development and conservation programmes on the island. Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world, with about 70% of Malagasy living on less than $1 a day (World Bank) and over 18 million people with no access to adequate sanitation in the country (WaterAid Madagascar). But it is also one of the richest in terms of biodiversity, a paradise where approximately 90% of its wildlife exist nowhere else on Earth.
My aim is to raise money for this association, in order to improve conditions in Madagascar, bring sanitation, construction techniques, and education to villages, and protect the incredible nature of the island.
I am going to train, and run every day in order to raise money for the cause.
If you are sensitive to Madagascar's beauty and conditions, if like me you want to make a change this year, to do something for the planet, please donate and together we can start a new page.
Thank you so much! Misaotra!
